The 60-Second Upgrade: How to Convert Your Battery Grease Gun to 500g LubeX Cartridges

The 60-Second Upgrade: How to Convert Your Battery Grease Gun to 500g LubeX Cartridges

If you are still messing around with old-school 450g plunger-style canisters, you know the drill all too well. It’s a messy, frustrating process involving bleeding air pockets, pulling back stiff followers, and getting covered in grease when a cartridge decides to fight back.

But what if you could eliminate the hassle entirely?

By converting your battery-powered grease gun to accept the new 500g LubeX screw-in cartridges using a simple 450g-to-500g adapter, you can wave goodbye to air locks and wasted grease. Best of all? The swap takes exactly 60 seconds and will genuinely change the way you maintain your gear forever.

Here is how to do it in 8 simple steps.

The 60-Second Conversion Guide

Step 1: Ditch the Old Canister

Unscrew and remove the original, bulky 450g plunger-style canister from your grease gun. You won't be needing that headache anymore.

Step 2: Prep Your Tools

Grab a 30mm socket, an extension bar, and a ratchet. Place your new 450g-to-500g adapter firmly into the socket. Using the socket ensures you get a straight, solid grip without marring the adapter threads.

Step 3: Seat and Screw

Align the adapter with the grease gun head, push it firmly into position, and use the ratchet to screw it cleanly into place.

Step 4: Tighten Safely

Tighten the adapter down using the same amount of pressure you normally used when screwing on the original canister. There is no need to over-torque it; a snug, firm seal is all it takes.

Step 5: Uncap the Fresh Cartridge

Take your new 500g LubeX grease cartridge and unscrew the cap off.

Step 6: Prime the Cartridge (The Pro Tip)

Before screwing it in, use your thumb to push the plunger/base cap at the bottom of the cartridge upward. Force approximately 10mm of grease to eject out of the top. This eliminates any air gap right from the start, ensuring instant prime.

Step 7: Twist on the New Cartridge

Thread the primed 500g cartridge directly into the newly installed adapter until it is secure.

Step 8: Ready to Roll

Pull the trigger, wait a second for the grease to flow, and just like that—you are ready to grease.

Note the grease gun had RED grease in it and the BLUE will follow!

Why This Changes Everything

Making the switch to a screw-in vacuum system means zero mess, zero wasted grease, and absolutely zero time spent bleeding air locks on the job site. When a cartridge is empty, you simply spin it off, pop a new one on, and keep moving.

The Bottom Line: A single minute spent in the workshop installing this adapter will save you hours of frustration and cleanup down the road. Efficient maintenance keeps your equipment running smoothly—Lubex, the mess saver!
